Presenting The First Lady Fayre Host – Roses Gabor!

The wonderfully talented singer/ songwriter and First Lady host, Roses Gabor!

When did you discover your talent?

Talent? What Talent? *smiles* I wrote poetry as early as I could string a sentence together on paper …I wasn’t the child that watched a lot of TV (although everyone knows I love Eastenders) but I was definitely an “oh I’m happy…I’ll write a song” or … “Oh? I’m sad … I’ll write a song” kinda girl…

What motivates and inspires your music?

Life motivates and Inspires …a good bassline with some minor chords…Love writing songs to a piano/guitar the vibrations between me and those solo instruments always create something warm and beautiful…with regards to my “music” I’d definitely say colour, fashion and my heart… I wouldn’t say I follow fashion or even know much about it, but I would say I love experimenting with both and one probably inspires the other.

Here is a preview of the track “Spend his dough” by Swindle ft Roses Gabor, enjoy!

What is your proudest moment so far?

Proudest Moment… Musically… Hmmm probably performing with Gorillaz at the O2. We did 2 nights there as part of an EPIC world tour last year and my sister came with my godsister … You could see she was proud and that in turn made me feel proud …

If you were not a musician what would you be doing now?

If I wasn’t doing music I guess I’d either be doing something well paid in a bank/asset management company or overcoming all my fears in a jungle in peru whilst practicing yoga ;-)

Why should people attend The First Lady Fayre?

People should attend first lady because 1. It’ll be a fantastic event … And 2. It really is inspiring and you will pick up more than you can possibly imagine whether it be my favourite cardigan purchased at the last event from a lovely lady at “auntie’s closet” or just golden nuggets of information from all the trader/guestspeakers … It really is an event not to be missed!

The First Lady is an avid supporter of Roses Gabor.  She has worked with legends like Bobby Womack (yes you read right) and pioneers of the future UK sound like Redlight, Toddla T and Swindle.  All of you that know her for her big bass dancefloor fillers or her UK #1 with Gorillaz will soon be taken on another amazing musical journey when she unleashes her work produced by The Insomniax.  When it comes to Roses Gabor do not underestimate or pigeon hole her, she is like a chameleon, her talents fit anywhere in any genre.

The First Lady meets…DJ Nikki Beatnik!

DJ Nikki Beatnik, Offical Kelis DJ, DJ for a number of A-lister’s and cool brands PLUS she is an über cool producer!  A real First Lady!

When did you discover your talent?

When I was 8 I got scouted for music school. I learned classical cello, piano & sang in choir till I was 16 when I discovered nightclubs and DJing. I bought my first set of Technics soon after and started out on my DJ career…I’ve never looked back, I have DJ’d all over the world for artists & brands from Jay- Z to Reebok & Blackberry. Now I want to be a wife & international jet- setter, live in the sun & collect pets ;)

Kelis “Acapella” performed live on Jools Holland with DJ Nikki Beatnik’s on the ones and two’s!

What motivates and inspires your music?

My music is inspired by being a DJ, club culture, dancing, Fashion, living in London & so many other things. I love different genres from 80′s to Drum & Bass, rock n roll to 90′s house. I love to mix all these influences.

Describe your audience.

Anyone who loves music & appreciates real DJ’s with skills! My friends & fans are from all different walks of life.

Natalie May Closer – Beatnik Remix

What keeps you going when you don’t want to/ have a set back?

What keeps me going is I dont have a back- up plan ;) I also believe if you do things you believe in, from the heart – it will work out ok.

What is your proudest moment so far?

I have had so many brilliant moments, Djing on a skyscraper, spinning in caves at Omar Shariff’s house, a night out with Tom Jones, playing the Royal Albert Hall…so many. Im very proud of all the work I have been doing with Kelis on tour this past year as she is one of my closest mates and she is so fresh and unique artistically. She is the real deal musically. We have done some amazing gigs this year, NYE Poland, 120,000 people crowds, Glastonbury, Isle of MTV, Good Vibes Festival. It’s been immense.  Im proudest when me & my bro and co- producer STATIS write & produce new records. We go under the name BEATNIK & are working with some brilliant artists here in the UK & US. www.beatniktv.com
