About

The First Lady is a business enterprise for female entrepreneurs within the creative industries.  We focus on growth of business and  recognising the importance of our well-being as these can be areas that are neglected when focussing on being creative.

The First Lady Fayre:

We host The First Lady Fayre which is a bi-annual retail extravaganza showcasing a range of predomanently female owned brands.  The event also features workshops in the areas of business and well-being as well as live music from highly talented musicians.   Whilst The First Lady is aimed at women we do not exclude men, we have worked with some great male owned brands and will continue to do so.

At the First Lady Fayre on 22nd May we were able to raise enough to secure secondary school education for two girls in Sierra Leone.  You can read details here: http://bit.ly/hfxH7

Additionally Inspirational You hosted a fashion show with the finance raised via The First Lady in June 2011.  Donations were collected during the fashion show for the ACLT charity (http://www.aclt.org/).

We have more charitable plans in development so please watch this space.

We would like to thank all the brands that have participated in the previous Fayre’s as without you this would not have been possible.

Workshops:

We are in the process of putting together a series of workshops that focus on business and well-being.  We will post information once dates and times have been finalised.

Meet up:

We meet on a monthly basis to network, learn and share.  Each meet up is attended by a guest who will share something that may be useful for the development of your business.  The First meet up is on 29th September 2011, please email info@thefirstlady.org.uk for more information.

The next First Lady Fayre (our 1st Anniversary!!) is on Sunday 18th December 2011 at The Rag Factory, Heneage St, London, E1 (just off Brick Lane).

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Willamson (Often misquoted  as Nelson Mandela).

Are there stalls available? Please let me know. It is a wonderful getting all entrepreneurs under one roof!!
